"Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step." Dr Martin Luther King, Jr

Well, actually, I don’t have a secret but this post refers to something I was reading in The Secret.

I love the statement above by Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Sometimes we look at a project we want to tackle or a particular goal in life and the journey to reach that goal seems soooo long and difficult, or we don’t know how to get from here to there, so we never begin. In the movie & book, The Secret, Jack Canfield (a true inspiration for me) delves into this theory further saying:

"Think of a car driving through the night. The headlights only go a hundred to two hundred feet forward, and you can make it all the way from California to New York driving through the dark, because all you have to see is the next two hundred feet. And that’s how life tends to unfold before us. If we just trust that the next two hundred feet will unfold after that, and the next two hundred feet will unfold after that, your life will keep unfolding. And it will eventually get you to the destination of whatever it is you truly want, because you want it."

How true is that?

I love that idea. You don’t always need to know how to reach your goal. If you start heading towards it… one… step… at… a… time… and trust that the rest of the ‘how’ will unfold when you get there - the rest of the staircase, the road, the path -  you will eventually get there. Of course, if you do have a map or can create one, it will make the journey a little quicker. Don’t forget, there may be detours along the way or you may make a wrong turn, but that’s okay. You will deal with it and find another way to reach your destination.
