My Mother’s Day Treat
I had an absolutely wonderful Mother’s Day last Sunday. After being treated to the Sunday paper and a lazy breakfast in bed of coffee, scrambled egg, fried egg on toast, bacon and pancakes - and struggling to eat it all! - I watched my present, a DVD, with my ‘baby’ before heading off to visit my Mum for the afternoon. What a glorious, laid-back day it was.
Then on Tuesday I got to enjoy the other part of my Mother’s Day treat - a luxurious hour long massage and body treatment at a local salon. It was pure bliss! There’s been a lot of talk recently about the need for women, particularly Mums, to take care of themselves and take time out for themselves and I now fully appreciate the value in this idea. Have a look at gillygirl.mumspace.net to find out more about The MUM Initiative and the Bad Mother’s Club for YOU! magazine.
While enjoying my massage, it was so strange to have someone else fussing over me, making sure I was comfortable and not letting me do anything. Halfway through my treatment, my thoughts began drifting to all the towels and linen that was being used. Who would have to wash these? No doubt the poor woman giving me a massage. I almost offered to stay and help her with the cleaning up & washing!!!
This just goes to show that I don’t do enough to look after ME and I need to start doing more of it. From now on, I intend taking some time to look after me.
