I’ve been working on a new website for the last few months - a new website to support a new e-book that I’ve written. Now, keep in mind that this is the first website I’ve EVER built and I’ve been doing it around my ‘normal’ client work and running of businesses and family tasks. 

So it was all set to launch on June 1st… I had placed an ad in The Business Mums Magazine and the excitement was building… I had told a few people about my surprise and was building up the momentum… and then…

…illness set in. My son had the ’flu, then I came down with the ’flu. Along with some technical troubles with the site, the big launch went by the wayside. It went ahead (although still not completed), but without all the hoo-ha I had envisioned. I was so disappointed but at the same time, I know my family (i.e. my son and myself!) needed me more. 

Still, the new site - www.YourSmallBizExpert.com - is up and running and I received some feedback from a satisfied customer today, telling me how much she enjoyed the book. She has already implemented one of the suggestions in there with a successful outcome. And do you know what? That makes it all worthwhile. Sometimes we don’t need the fanfare and hoo-ha of a huge launch with lots of publicity. Just to get your message out there and receive heartfelt feedback like that makes all the late nights and frustrations worth while.

I’ve also learnt that as exciting as my work is to me, sometimes you need to just put it aside and focus on what’s really important without feeling guilty that I should be doing more in the office all the time.
