Get out of the house

I have had the loveliest day today. Why? Because it’s the second Wednesday of the month… Coffee & Chat Club Day.

This is one day I really look forward to each month. I get together with several other business women, most of whom work at home… by themselves (not including the kids). We were talking this morning about the importance of networking and getting out socialising with other business people and just how valuable this time is. Whether we’re comparing achievements, challenges or news, it’s something we probably took for granted in our previous careers - working in an office full of people - and something we often don’t realise we’re missing until we go looking for it. Does that make sense?

Anyway, if you’re in the Brisbane area, come along and join us. If not, look around for similar groups in your area. Sometimes it can be difficult to get away when you’ve got so much work waiting to be done, but more often than not, you’ll be more productive for having taken that time out.

I think this is great. What a way to recharge your batteries and network at the same time.

Hi Donna Marie,
What a shame I am not in Brisbane. Your second Wednesday of the month ideas sounds great.
I will have to see what we can do in Melbourne.
Heather

You can always do what I did Heather… if you can’t find a suitable group in your area, start up one of your own! :)

Hey Heather, I don’t live in Melbourne, but have regular contact/newsletters from Business Mums Network, who is based in Melbourne, and they often advertise local events their website is www.businessmums.com.au. Shame I don’t live in Brissy either Donna Marie. I have been in contact with a few WAHMS, but they are on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, and I am in the Sutherland Shire. Plus I work full time 5 days a week, as well as run my business from home - so don’t give myself much time out as it is anyway! Would definately be interested to hear if any local mums in business wanted to catch up!
